Answers to your Questions

How will hiring you affect my partner’s role during the birth?

Having a doula to help your partner during birth is one of my favorite aspects! During prenatals and birth I can guide them in simple pain management techniques, giving suggestions or gentle reminders to get some water for themselves and you, explaining what is happening and what to expect as labor progresses, and more! They will have a better sense of understanding and comfort. I am here for both of you, to make your experience positive.

What are your interactions with medical staff like?

My biggest goal as your doula is to be apart of an effective, and caring birth team who shares a common goal. As a non medical supporter, I will work along side Obs/Midwives, and nurses, they will take care of you medically and manage anything unexpected that is health related. My job is to support you mentally and physically. Help explain the progress and your options further, advocacy is one of the most important aspects of birth work.

What type of births do you attend?

Every kind! Whether your birth is at home, a birth center or the hospital the way you choose to birth is unique to you. I am a registered doula with Novant & Cone. I have experience with medical inductions I can help prep you for, support during and after cesarean. I’ve had training in pelvic biomechanics to specifically help with optimal positioning when laboring with an epidural. And of course, experience with home births and birth centers with extensive training in pain management techniques, suggestions during labor to help ease any tension, emotional and empowering support.
